Sat next to Barbara Rossi in my world of inspirations is fellow Chicago Imagist, Jim Nutt. Something of a master in reverse plexiglass painting, Nutt would create large works with "bizarre scenes rendered in intense and perfectly flat color, and custom frames, often with other materials affixed onto their surfaces. Nutt’s ability to combine magnificent, meticulous craftsmanship with grotesque and sometimes bizarre imagery would become a signature feature of his career."
